23 Set 7 inspirational ideas for your book-themed wedding
Books and weddings: an ideal match
Books are an important part in the life of many people, and luckily, I would add!
No surprise then if books are a most beloved theme for wedding design and décor, a theme that can be developed in many different ways, as many as the great existing varieties of books and literary genres, from an old-fashioned, shabby style to a more contemporary and modern one.
The web is a great source of inspiration and ideas, of course, and it is possible to find so many ways of using the theme of books to enrich the various elements that compose the general design.
Here are some of them that we have selected for you: I bet you wouldn’t have thought about some of them!
7 book-themed wedding ideas for your wedding décor:
1) Bridal bouquet
No, it’s not a mistake, I really mean that the bouquet can be included among the elements that compose this style! How? Well, the best way, I think, is to be “brave” enough to renounce the traditional bouquet made of real flowers and to opt for flowers made with… the pages of old books! As odd as it might sound, there actually are many examples of these bouquets on the web, my favourite is the one that mixes normal black-and-white printed pages with coloured paper: isn’t it pretty?
And look at the pros: this sort of bouquet will never wither, it will remain a beautiful keepsake of your wedding day!
2) Ceremony backdrop
You will declare your love not only to each other but also to literature with a ceremony backdrop made of books! The effect is beautifully impressive and it will be even better if a gentle breeze moves a bit the pages!
Are you looking for more ideas for your ceremony? Here you’ll find many other arches, canopies, arbors and so on!
3) Ring pillow
Ring bearers are often very traditional, they usually are white pillows with lace and ribbons where the rings are attached, but here again books come to the rescue to bring some originality (and great beauty): the hollowed pages will become the place where the wedding rings will be kept until the moment the bride and groom exchange them. Isn’t it marvellous?
4) Petal cones
Or rice cones, or lavender seed cones or confetti cones: what you put inside is important but the containers are important too! And these ones will be perfectly in theme with all the rest of the wedding décor!
5) Centrepieces
There are infinite ways of creating wonderful centrepieces with books: you can select them according to literary genre, or style, you can combine them with flowers or other decorative items such as wooden signs, candles, fruit, china cups and teapots, depending on the style (modern, rustic, shabby-chic and so on) you want for your wedding.
6) Wedding favors
Collect second-hand books, cover them with a nice piece of fabric (for example in the tones of your colour palette) and label them with the names of your guests. You can also insert a bookmark with a thank-you note printed on it and matching ribbons: your guests will be delighted!
7) Wedding cake
Last but not least: the cake! Cake design is very helpful, as it allows to create cakes in every possible shape, to match every possible theme, so you are really spoilt for choice!
Have a look at these two examples: the first one is more original and unconventional, you might have your favourite books reproduced in all their details! The second one is more traditional, but only in shape; look at the details: the printed words (perhaps some readings you both like?) and the sugar flowers that represents the ones made with book pages! It’s perfect if the bride has a bouquet made like that (see above 😉 ).
Obviously these are only two possible options, but if you find a good, creative cake designer, the possibilities are endless!
